In September I left my position as senior reporter at Children & Young People Now magazine. At CYP Now I covered early years, education, youth work, child poverty, children's rights, parenting and play. This included daily online news reporting, analysis pieces for the weekly magazine, profile interviews and investigations. Today the Times publishes the results of a long-term investigation into a shocking tax evasion scheme run through one of the UK's largest charities. I worked with the Times to break this story and provided the initial leads. The case raises serious questions about the efficiency of the Charity Commission , HM Revenue & Customs and the UK tax system which allows such practices to happen. Margaret Hodge, chairwoman of the Public Accounts Committee , told the Times: “Of all the tax avoidance schemes I have come across, this is perhaps the worst. I thought I was past being shocked, but this genuinely has shocked me." After gaining my HR journalism award, I wrote my first feature for HR Magazine. Investigating performance appraisals led to some fascinating conversations - I could have written a book about them by the time I'd finished my reseach. You can read the final feature here .

After two years away from the children and youth sector, I am returning to Children & Young People Now magazine as a senior reporter. I will be covering education, early years and youth work for the magazine, as well as child poverty, children's rights, parenting and play.
