I have worked as a reporter, features writer, investigator, editor, commentator and blogger since 2006. I also have extensive experience of digital communications, including managing websites and social media platforms, and writing for radio.

I have a background working for charities, particularly for youth-focused and international development organisations. This has included communications and PR, copy-writing, report writing, translation and photography.

I completed postgraduate journalism at the London College of Communication in 2006, and hold a BA in English Literature from the University of Cambridge.

More details about my experience:

Children and young people - I was formerly senior reporter at Children & Young People Now magazine, where I covered early years, education, youth work, child poverty, children's rights, parenting and play. In 2013 I was shortlisted for the CIPR award for most promising newcomer to education journalism.

I write regularly about issues affecting children all over the world - particularly on early years education in the UK and youth issues in developing countries. My UK-focused work is published in CYP Now, TES, Nursery World and LGC. I have two years experience working at online youth charity YouthNet.

International news and travel - I have written news and features from abroad for the BBC World Service, the Sunday Times, the Observer, the Independent, Independent on Sunday and Independent Magazine. I am a London correspondent for global development newswire Devex.com, for which I write news and interviews on wide-ranging global development issues. I have also contributed to the New Internationalist, Equal Times and the former Guardian Global Development Professionals Network.

I have particular experience working with international development charities in West Africa, and have reported on youth projects and news in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cameroon, Togo and Senegal.

My international work has been recognised by two awards: winning the Amnesty International Gaby Rado Memorial Award in 2015 (for best new journalist), and longlisted in the One World Media Awards press category.

The Times Cup Trust Tax Scam investigation - I sold this investigation to the Times newspaper, which led to a five-year-long investigation by the Charity Commission and an overhaul of its approach. Read the article here.

Daily Telegraph and Unearthed - I was part of the team that exposed poor recycling practices and working conditions at a London processing factory. Read the article here.

Business, employment and HR - I have contributed to the Guardian Small Business Network,  HR Magazine and Flexible Boss. In 2012 won the Towers Watson award for Best HR Newcomer to Journalism.
